D - Day

Finally here!! I depart today on my IBA "adventure"! It is about 32 deg out and raining, I was able to ride to work today at 5:30, no ice... It was about 35 deg then. Everything seems fine, gassed up here on the way in to work so I am ready to leave here at 12:30, right after a light lunch.

I am heading to Newburgh NY from here, and spending the night in a motel. The weather should be rain here but near 40 and Newburgh has rain this am only, so I am hopefull that I will be driving out of the rain. through the afternoon.

In Newburgh, will grab a light supper, check out my start receipt location and make sure I find a spot to grab a quick breakfast sandwich in the morning. As a diabetic, I should have some food in me to start and will carry some juice and snack bars for the SS 1000.

That's all the update for now.... I am both excited and nervous, looking forward to this trip so bad, been counting the days and planning for what seems forever, but now it is here. My butterflys will likely be gone as soon as I hit the highway! Tomorrow around midnight, I should be in Jacksonville!! Can't wait! :)

Hopefully, I can ride the bike to work and the bike directly from work, if not I'll take the truck to work and go pick up the bike, but I will be on the road on 2 wheels tomorrow afternoon. So, I'm looking forward to the trip to Jacksonville, goodbye. listen

T -2 and counting...

Two more days till I hit the road. I am as ready as I can get now. Have all my IBA papers and maps done, have transmitted by links to this Blog and the tracker to friends and family, everything that has to go is either packed or staged on the counter.

Looks like starting in the rain... there is a threat of ice early Wednesday but I am not leaving until about 1:00 pm. If it is icey in the am, I just drive to work and go home for the bike. I work right off the highway so I am still hoping to just jump on it after work.

I am 80 - 20 on the side of being able to ride.... so that is a plus. I will do one more Jott test before I leave to make sure the voice translation is working. Blog updates after Wednesday noon will all have to be via Jott.

Lets keep the ice out and have a safe ride... 'See you in Jax'

3 days to go....

It is getting close now. I am really all ready now. Just a few minor things to do, prep my summary map for the IBA, post my blog and tracking link on a couple forums and email to friends and family. Today I have put the last of the tupperware back on the Wing, prepared all my witness and log forms and final checked all my electrics, cloths, gps, tracker etc.

I checked in on Travel Man's tracker and he is on his way to Jax for the start of the 100CC event. The weather at the moment is still a go... rain is forecast for my Wednesday trip to Newburgh but no snow, at least right now.

I am getting excited to be on the road... Keep your fingers crossed for the weather!

See you in JAX!

4 Days to go...

Yes, departure is scheduled for Wednesday and I am so excited but also nervous. Nerves are pertaining to both can I get out with the weather, we just had another 9" of snow last night and this morning, and they are predicting a "wintry mix" for Wednesday. I am hoping that by the time I leave at 1:00, it will only be rain, although maybe a cold rain. The other thing I am a bit nervous about is how well I will handle the cold, even with electric gear. I had hoped to actually be able a to do a test run or two to work in the mornings but the snow (over 20" in the last week) and ice has made that impossible.

I am pretty well eady, as is the bike. Tires and fluids are good, I have had a battery tender on her also. I have one panel to put back on over the battery and a few small items left to pack in the bike. My gear is ready and all checked out except my comm gear in the helmet. I will get that done tomorrow along with the balance of the bike stuff and packing.

Route is finalized in S & T ready for printing and the GPS route is also layed out, I just need to load it in on Sunday.

Thats all for now, going to get my IBA paperwork prepped and then relax for the evening.

See You In JAX!
