Local Riding and Riding...

I have not started my truck in over 2 weeks, riding to work everyday. That is a good thing with todays gas prices. Regular here is up over 3.40 a gallon. I did some local riding last weekend with Southern Cruisers north of me and am planning on a ride with another Chapter more local this weekend.

Yesterday I road with Rolling Thunder up to the NH Veterans Cemetary where we assisted the staff with their spring grouds cleanup. We had 22 people attend this.

I submitted a route to the IBA for an In State New Hampshire 1000. (1000 miles in 24 hours inside the state lines!) I had hoped to do this run in May but Veterans events, bike maintenance and out of town company will eat my time before I head off to RollingThunder XXI Memorial weekend.

I have decided to another bike. No, I am not replacing the Wing!! I have a Honda Shadow and am going to sell it and get a Dual Sport, a bike that is configured for both paved riding and rough/offroad riding. After much research and conversations with dual sport riders I have decided on the BMW F650 GS model. It appears to have the quality, proper mix of off and on road design and also the one that fits me the best. I am now searching for a used one to purchase.

Have fun everyone!

Post Moonshine..

I have been home from Moonshine a week now. I rode to work everyday since my return (its now been almost 2 weeks since I even started my truck)

Saturday I got out for a couple hundred miles also, heading up to Manchester NH for a meeting at Liberty House, then a leisurely ride up to Sanford Maine. The Rolling Thunder chapter in Maine had a Buffet Super fundraiser. It was a nice ride up and the meal was good, also great to see the people from the Maine chapter again.

Sunday, I headed up to Epsom NH and met the local Southern Cruisers group up there for their ride. It was a nice southern NH loop with a picnic lunch stop and finishing up at Johnsons Dairy Bar for iced cream. By the time that I meandered back home it was another nice relaxing 200 mile day.

Cannot forget the IBA stuff.. I completed all my paperwork for my SS 1000 (1000 miles in 24 hours) out to Moonshine and put it in the mail early Saturday morning. When I returned from my ride, I had an evnvelope from the IBA and suspected it was my Cert from the Jacksonville ride it. I was close, it was the certificate from the SS 1000 that I did on the return from Jacksonville. That was quite a quick turnaround too.

Thats about all for now. Will be riding to work all week and have no defined plans for weekend riding as my son is scheduled in to visit from CT.

Have a great day, ride safe and I will talk to everyone later.

April and Another Trip!

Yes, we have made it to April. The weather has still been touch and go, cold and even more snow this past week. I think that put us to a new Record for the season.

Surviving my last run (Jacksonville), I am getting ready for the Moonshine Run, a 1080 mile ride to Casey Illinois. I will be leaving on the 10th, around 1pm and riding straight through on another SS 1000 so that I arrive in time for the lunch gathering on Friday. We are going for the famous Elephant Ear sandwich at the Casey Airport.

Saturday is the main event, a ride to Moonshine Illinois, population 2... where we will be tasting the famous Moonburger! It appears to be 400 of us descending on the town!!

I will hit the road after lunch and visiting and start heading home. I hope to get few hours in and then get a room, finishing up on Sunday and hoping to only have 800 or so miles to get back. I learned a good lesson in JAX about doing an SS 1000 out and back without enough rest!! I was exhausted after that trip.

Need to finalize my route and papers for the SS and then get my stuff packed over the weekend.. Obviously, I will be blogging via JOTT and also have my tracking equipment running. I have checked the tracker today and all is operational, will check JOTT later on today.

Have a good day.....
